Experts estimate that the Internet of things will consist of 30 billion objects by 2020. This network of physical devices, vehicles and home appliances embedded with electronics and sensors allows these objects to connect and exchange data.

Internet of Things devices are a part of the larger idea of home automation and can include lighting, heating, air conditioning, media and security systems.

The Internet of Things allows us to be more efficient – in the long term to save time and money and ultimately it will allow us to be more environmentally friendly because heating and lighting can be turned off when we are no longer home.
